Wasser & Russ, LLP has chosen to sponsor SunriseWalks 2015 in support of Sunrise Day Camp!
Sunrise Day Camp, for children ages 3 1/2 – 16, is the only dedicated full summer day camp in the nation for children with cancer and their siblings. It is a camp designed to meet the emotional, social, recreational and physical needs of these children while allowing them to enjoy the comforts and safety of their own homes at night.
Sunrise Day Camp offers a full, multi-week summer activity program plus year-round camp-like programs. These additional programs take place at our campgrounds and other locations that provide exclusive use of their facilities. Additionally, Sunrise Day Camp staff and volunteers visit our campers in the hospital as well as provide camp activity days for those who are awaiting treatment in hospital out-patient clinics.
Sunrise Day Camp is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization, celebrating its 10th summer this year.
Best of all, Sunrise Day Camp is offered free of charge to all children being treated for cancer on a non-sectarian basis. By raising the needed funds from outside sources instead of charging the parents, Sunrise helps to alleviate some of the costs, and the related stress, that parents incur caring for a sick child throughout the year. Children who have received medical clearance from their physicians are welcome to attend. Though 71/2 weeks of camp programming is offered, children may register and attend any and every day they feel well enough to do so.
Sunrise Day Camp is situated on the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds, a 300-acre wooded site that borders Nassau and Suffolk counties. The camp has a wide range of amazing features to best accommodate chronically ill children.
